“Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all things and be in health, as your soul prospers.” This scripture verse is found in III John 1:2. It embodies the simple, yet profound truth of how God created us a three part being. We are a spirit, we have a soul and we live in a physical body. In order to truly understand the truth behind: what is healthy living-we need to realize that we are a three part being. To be healthy, we must take care of every part of us.
I haven’t always lived with the mentality of a healthy life vision. When you’re young, you think that you’re going to live forever and you can cheat on not always eating healthy foods and taking vitamins. Your mentality is not geared towards healthy living. However, at some point in our lives, most of us have a wake-up call. Maybe it’s the death of a loved one or close friend. Maybe you became sick or just realized with age; your body isn’t working at the optimum level that it used to.
My own journey towards healthy living started several years ago after we first got married and I had experienced a very bad sinus infection. That’s when I first heard about the neti pot from my husband’s cousin. He told us that he used it when he got a bad sinus infection and had been using it ever since. I started using the neti pot and it helped me heal from the sinus infection and I still use it to this day and haven’t had any major issues since.
After that point, my vision towards life became soul, body and spirit minded. My outlook on living became one of trying my best to be healthy. Now, I don’t always eat healthy foods and exercise isn’t consistent, but my outlook has changed in that I’ve realized that life is short and I need to make every second count. That tends to happen, the older we get. Time flies and we long for the days when we were kids and had tons more energy to get through the day and hated going to bed. Now, we can’t wait to sit down and go to bed.
One of the best ways to maintain a healthy life is to take organic supplements. We do not get enough of the nutrients from our daily intake of food. In order to get all the nutrients we need from our food, we’d have to eat so many fruits and vegetables and other healthy foods and such a big portion, that we wouldn’t be able to eat it all during the day. That’s why it’s vitally important, if you want to be healthy to take supplements; especially natural or organic ones, each day. Also, be sure to drink a good amount of water during the day to rehydrate yourself… which is one area I need to improve in. Another major way to be healthy is to get exercise, at least three days a week. Always remember, to make each moment we live count and have fun in life.
